P7 - Ultra compact, Agile, 7" Prototype Frame for Long Range

Proto7 was going to be the most compact, lightweight, agile, sickest looking 7" you've ever seen... It flew so well and even fit in my backpack with props on! However the project came to a screeching halt when I lost it 3km away high up in some unaccessible steep mountains. Mistake 1) Sent it with a 2200mah Lipo. As I got to the top battery was more than half done. Mistake 2) failsafe was mis-configured. Somehow just before the flight I had some bright idea to change the fail safe throttle control settings from AUTO, to last known value. Super stupid mistake, why would I do that? Mistake 3) Blind spots. Once I turned around and faced myself, I believe the RX antenna was blocked by the carbon, so proto7 failsafes, from there, with incorrect failsafe throttle settings, the quad never returned home, throttle was stuck at last known value, which was probably like just above hover..It was a disaster. Proto7 had so many high end parts. X-Nova 2808 1350kv motors, DJI O3 AU, Hobbywing 60A stack, even a DJI action 2 on board as well. It was a very expensive lesson, but I have no regrets. I learned a lot. Currently overhauling the entire frame design and the next Proto7 is just going to get better from here on out!
